Yunnan & Hainan Island Garden Tour 2009

October 9th – 21st, 2009

This is another remarkable China Tour – to southern China. As a poem goes, ‘The spring lasts the entire year and the flowers bloom in all seasons’. No wonder Kunming is known to visitors from home and abroad as the Spring City. The areas that we will visit on this tour are all tropical and the tour ends in the tropical island of Hainan. I have been to this area before and was so amazed to see how different it really is compared to other areas in China. It truly is tropical with such diversity of plant material. We are including visits to minority villages on this tour as well. I think it will give you a much better understanding of China and its people. When I had the opportunity to see these villages, I came away with more empathy and a better understanding of what their life is like. They are truly wonderful, warm and friendly people.

Kunming – the City of Eternal Spring. Visit to the flower market - Kunming is the largest flower supplier in the world and we will visit the largest flower market, Botanical Institute and Horticultural Expo Garden, Magical Stone Forest, Minority Village including silk weaving and factory, West Hill with Dragon Gate, Bamboo Temple and Green Lake Park.

Lijiang – old city laced with canals and bridges. Visits to Black Dragon Pond, Moon Embracing Pavilion, Dongba Museum, Naxi music concert, Yak Meadow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with chair lift ride to see the famed 13 peaks, Jade Peak Monastery, Baisha Village, Longquan Village.

Xishuangbanna – Ganlanba Dai Minority Village, Menglun Botanical Garden, Menghai Tea Plantation, Bada Wild Tea Tree, Tropical Flower Institute.

Sanya, Hainan Island – Nanshan Temple and Gardens, Thule, day excursion to Xinglong to visit the Tropical Garden and Botanical Garden.
