Fairmont Royal York
Film Festival Red Carpet Treatment at The Fairmont Royal
York
TORONTO, September 2004 - The Fairmont Royal York, one of the proud
hotel partners of the 2004 Toronto International Film Festival (T.I.F.F.),
is pleased to roll out the red carpet by launching the Hollywood North
package.
The hotel's new package will afford film lovers the unique opportunity
to experience luxury accommodations fit for a star at The Fairmont
Royal York and to enjoy a rare ''behind the scenes'' guided tour
highlighting the role of film history at the hotel. For the month of
September, the hotel will also debut a star studded Martini A-list,
featuring a score of film genre libations for patrons in the Library
Bar. The Hollywood North package will be available at The Fairmont
Royal York, located on 100 Front Street West, Toronto, from September
7 to December 31, 2004.
The Hollywood North package is an entirely new initiative celebrating
Toronto's love affair with international film and culture. Guests of
the Hollywood North package will enjoy luxurious one night
accommodation in a Fairmont Gold room, including continental breakfast
served in the private Gold Lounge, two Red Carpet T.I.F.F.- tini's (a
Festival martini created by film savvy mixologists), an entertainment
themed hotel tour showcasing film history at The Fairmont Royal York,
and one in-room On-Command movie to complete the silver screen
experience.
Inspired by the Toronto International Film Festival and the storied
history of film at The Fairmont Royal York, the hotel is pleased to
deliver such an unprecedented city package. Now in its 75th year of
continuous operation, the hotel has set the stage for film and
entertainment since its earliest days. In fact, one of the greatest
cinematic achievements of the 20th century is located in the projector
room in the hotel. The New Super Simplex Projector, the first motion
picture machine known as the ''talkie,''
delighted audiences in the famed Concert Hall. Unveiled in 1929, as
the first of its kind in North America, two of these ''talkies'' will
be on view during the guided tour for guests of the Hollywood North
package.
In addition to making early cinematic history, the hotel has served as
the set for such films and celebrities as the upcoming 2005 Cinderella
Man, starring Russell Crowe, Renée Zellweger and directed by Ron
Howard. A film shot on the front steps of the hotel, Cinderella Man
will bring to life the story of Depression-era fighter and folk hero
Max Baer during a fateful 1935-boxing match. Among the numerous
rolling credits, the hotel has also played a starring role in New York
Minute, starring Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Julie Andrews' Eloise at
the Plaza, and The Tuxedo with Jackie Chan and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
The Hollywood North package is available daily from September 7 to
December 31, 2004 starting from $299 CAD (approximately $235 USD) per
night, exclusive of taxes, and is based on double occupancy.
Reservations can be made by calling 1(800) 257-7544, or online at
